In Mac OS X, you have the ability to edit the hosts file by opening the original file through Terminal.app and making the necessary adjustments. With the help of the Gas Mask, users can edit hosts files and switch between them in the GUI interface. Gas Mask allows not only to easily and easily edit the host file, but also to create new files.

Immediately after the startup, a window appears with the file you need to edit. The main application window is divided into two areas: on the right you can see the contents of the hosts file, while on the left you can see a list of all the specified files organized by type (local, remote, or in combination).

First of all, all you need to do is create a new hosts file and enter the host name that you want to resolve and the IP address. The next step is to save and activate the hosts file. For your convenience, the main window has a toolbar with buttons for frequently used functions: create, delete, save and activate. You can create multiple files and activate them only when you need to run tests.

In application settings, you can select overrides for external changes, enable syntax highlighting, set the update interval for remote hosts files, or configure your own activation hotkeys.
